From creamy ube chiffon to the surprising flavors of sayote and lychee, more than 100 cakes took center stage at the first-ever “Cake Picnic ed Pangasinan” held in Urdaneta City.
Around 100 home bakers, cake shop owners, and café operators gathered for what the Pangasinan Bakers’ Club proudly called the province’s “sweetest event.”
The day was not just about desserts—it was about creativity, connection, and community.
“We got to explore different flavors. Meron pong isa sa pinag-usapang flavor ‘yung sayote cake and lychee cake,” club president Michelle Ian Patayon said.
Other unique creations included kiwi muffins, banana matcha cake, caramel leche flan, and crème caramel cake; alongside classics like red velvet, Oreo chocolate, and carrot cake.
For the bakers, besides being a place to display their skills, it was also a chance for them to build networks.
“We were able to build a community po. During that time na, at least alam mo na kanino ka tatakbo, sinong puwede mong i-message in case kailangan mo ng tulong,” Patayon said.
The Pangasinan Bakers’ Club has over 1,400 members, and they hope this cake picnic won’t be the last.
“At that time, mayroon kaming time na inilaan para i-slice lahat ng cakes nila and then pansamantalang pinalayo sila. Tapos nagbigay ng signal na ‘cake attack’!” Patayon said.
Everyone went home not only full but also with boxes of cakes.
