At least 42 families were displaced after a fire razed their homes in Barangay, Labuan, Zamboanga City evening on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

The fire that reached third alarm broke out around 8:30 p.m. and was placed under control at around 9:48 p.m. Authorities said the fire may have spread quickly as the houses affected were made of light materials.

According to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), 37 houses were destroyed and five were damaged.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire while fire victims are taking shelter temporarily at the barangay covered court.

The local government has already extended relief assistance to the victims including hot meals, water, food packs, kitchen utensils, and hygiene and sleeping kits.
