Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao (NBI-11) have arrested a barangay captain who is a fellow respondent of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Founder Apollo Quiboloy in a case before the Regional Trial Court in Davao City for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

Two other respondents have surrendered.

The NBI served the warrant on Barangay Tamayong Chairman Cresente Canada on April 3, 2024. Paulene Canada and Sylvia Cemañes turned themselves in.

The three have posted bail.

Quiboloy and respondents Jackielyn Roy and Ingrid Canada remain at large, as of this writing.

“Ang challenge karon is ang pagpangita kung asa siya banda same sa amoang challenge pud gihapon sa other warrant of arrest nga na receive pud namo apil sa among intelligence monitoring kung naa pa ba sila sa Davao. Kung naa sila sa laing lugar mo-connect mi sa police station or headquarters,” Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) Spokesperson, Major Catherine Dela Rey, said.

NBI agents and members of the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) also went to KOJC in Davao City but it was KOJC administrator Norie Cardona who received a copy of the warrant on behalf of Quiboloy and the other respondents at large.

The arrest warrant was issued on March 14, 2024 yet after the court found basis for the case against the respondents to proceed.

However, the camp of Quiboloy appealed to put the arrest warrant on hold by filing a motion for reconsideration before the Department of Justice (DOJ). The court released the warrant after it did not receive any resolution from DOJ on the case within the given period.

Earlier, the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police also directed PRO-11 to assist the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms in serving the warrant against Quiboloy for the pastor's failure to attend the Senate investigation over the allegations of sexual abuse and human exploitation against him.
