A juvenile Brahminy kite, also known as a sea eagle, was turned over by officials of Barangay Mactan to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office in Lapu-Lapu.

Two children reported to the barangay of the presence of a wounded eagle.

A wound was found on its left wing believed to have been hit by a slingshot.

Brahminy kites may not be considered globally threatened at present but their population is declining because of detrimental human activities such as hunting and collection of nestlings, this was learned.

This is the third time that a sea eagle was rescued by residents in Lapu-Lapu City.
