The Province of Iloilo is placed under a state of calamity due to dengue outbreak.
The declaration of a state of calamity has been approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan based on the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) because of the reported rise in cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever.
Under a state of calamity, the provincial government will be able to utilize the Quick Response Fund (QRF) worth P13.6 million to purchase medical supplies for dengue outbreak response to be distributed to the 43 local government units (LGUs) and 13 hospitals; the purchase of sprayers for the 43 LGUs; and purchase of intravenous (IV) fluids for the 13 hospitals.
As of August 17, 2024, the Province of Iloilo logged 5,836 dengue cases with 10 death cases and two unofficial reported deaths based on data from the Iloilo Provincial Health Office.
