Six people were arrested for allegedly robbing the house of a barangay chairman in Kinoguitan, Misamis Oriental on election day, May 12, 2025.
Police said the suspects broke into the house and carted away money and several gadgets.
Authorities launched a hot pursuit operation and traced the suspects through one of the stolen cellphones.
“Nakita nato ang location kung asa sila through find my device nga app ug didto dayun nag-conduct og chokepoint ang atong kapulisan sa Kinoguitan ug didto nasikop gyud ug possibly identified ang katung mga indibidwal,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), Major Joann Navarro, said.
“So far, sa kaluoy sa Ginoo, wala man pud sila gipasakitan, giingnan lang sila nga mudapa sila ug gipangita kung asa ang kwarta,” Navarro added.
The suspects reportedly stole around P40,000 in cash and eight cellphones. The stolen items were recovered later by authorities.
Based on investigation, the suspects were reportedly armed, which prevented the victims from resisting during the incident.
The suspects are facing charges for robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons.
PRO-10 clarified that although the robbery took place on election day, it is not considered an election-related incident.
