A 40-year-old hospital patient in Alimodian town, Province of Iloilo went berserk and attacked employees, watchers, and fellow patients using his intravenous (IV) stand. 

Based on initial investigation done by Alimodian Police, the suspect was from Private Room 1 of Aleosan District Hospital in Barangay Bancal, and proceeded to the nurse station.

The incident happened past 6 p.m. on October 21, 2025. 

The suspect allegedly grabbed dextrose bags, pulled these away from patients, and bashed persons in the area with the IV stand he was dragging. 

Four persons were injured, while a patient was killed identified as an 80-year-old woman.

Nurses and other staff members were able to calm down the patient before he was turned into the custody of Alimodian Police. 

The suspect was placed in a separate cell, while a review of his medical record was carried out.  A case for homicide and physical injuries will be filed against him.

As of this writing, police said that the suspect does not talk coherently. He was observed to have cried and refused to take his food.

Police are coordinating with members of his family, as no one was around with him when the incident happened. 

According to Police Captain Chrysler John Ledesma, chief of Alimodian Municipal Police Station, no medical record is available yet about his mental condition.

The suspect is found to be a resident of Barangay Cagay, Leon town, Iloilo.
