Up to 1,448 families were affected by flash floods and landslides that struck several barangays in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
The landslides were caused by heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon or Habagat, which was enhanced by #IndayPH.
According to the local government, the number of affected families was based on the consolidated report from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), as of 9 a.m. of Friday, July 17, 2026.
Based on the data, four individuals were confirmed dead, one was injured, while six are still missing.
The local government added that around 442 households are staying temporarily at the evacuation centers.
Meanwhile, at least 317 houses were destroyed while 275 others were damaged.
The local government, together with national government agencies and emergency responders, continues to provide relief assistance, carry out evacuation efforts, and monitor the situation in the affected barangays.
Residents are advised to remain alert, heed the advisories of their barangay officials and MDRRMO, avoid flood- and landslide-prone areas, and cooperate with authorities if evacuation orders are issued.
