A woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to smuggle suspected shabu into the Dagupan City Jail while visiting her live-in partner over the weekend.
According to jail authorities, the woman was caught on Saturday while undergoing a routine inspection at the jail’s entrance. Officers discovered a small packet containing suspected shabu wrapped in coupon bond paper.
“Ito’y nakita ng isang searcher natin at noong pagkaalam na ito ay allegedly shabu, agad po siyang inaresto at binasahan ng Miranda rights,” Jail Chief Inspector Lito Lam-osen, warden of the Dagupan City Jail, said.
Dagupan City Police Station 6 Commander Police Captain Rommel Dulay said the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) immediately informed them of the incident.
Authorities said the confiscated substance weighed about 0.3 gram and may have been intended for use by the inmate.
“Itong nakuha sa kaniya eh actually baka panggamit nitong kaniyang live-in partner doon sa loob,” Dulay added.
The suspect is now under police custody and faces charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Dagupan City Jail management warned visitors against bringing contraband into the facility.
Authorities said stricter inspections will continue to ensure no illegal items are smuggled into the jail.
