A forest fire burned across the mountains of Barangay San Gonzalo in Labrado, Pangasinan on Thursday, November 20, 2025, forcing authorities to work for hours to contain the blaze.
According to the Labrador Fire Station, the fire started at around 10 a.m. and lasted for almost 19 hours before responders brought it under control. The area was far from residential communities, which helped prevent damage to homes.
SFO3 Ricky Saringan said this was not the first time a fire occurred in the area.
“Hindi lang ito isang beses na nangyari, sabi sa atin ng bantay gubat mga illegal hunter ang gumagawa nito,” he said.
Fire investigators said they continue to monitor the site closely, together with forest watchers, to protect nearby residents.
The Bureau of Fire Protection also warned those who continue to burn vegetation or engage in activities that could spark fires.
“Kapag nalaman natin kung sino talaga ay may karampatang parusa sila.” Saringan added.
Authorities are still investigating to identify those responsible for the incident.
