A 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly abusing his niece sexually in Tagum City.

According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the suspect was caught in the act of persuading, coercing, and inducing the victim to create and send nude pictures and video in exchange for money.

CIDG alleged that the suspect has been abusing the victim sexually since 2024, and subjected the girl to online sexual abuse and exploitation recently.

Authorities said the victim’s mother is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) so it was with her aunt that the girl confided about what her uncle allegedly did to her. The aunt then sought help from CIDG.

During the operation, authorities arrested the suspect and rescued the victim.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children Act (OSAEC) and Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
