A woman in Cagayan de Oro City did not make it past her delivery to take care of her child.
In her rented room at a boarding house in Barangay Bulua, other residents found the woman in the restroom drenched in blood, lifeless.
Responders arrived just in time to find the woman’s newborn child in a pool of blood in the room.
The baby survived but the mother did not make it to the hospital alive.
The baby is now under the care of authorities.
NO FOUL PLAY
Capt. Emilita Simon, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, said no foul play was found in the woman’s death.
Police investigation found that the woman endured labor all by herself. She also cut cut her own umbilical cord, which may have caused the bleeding.
“So siya ra mismo ang nag-labor sa iyang kaugalingon ug siya ra mismo ang nagputol sa kaning (umbilical) cord mao ng ga-bleeding siya ug niadto siya sa cr ug didto na siya nakabsan sa kinabuhi,” Simon said.
Authorities found out that the woman had a live-in partner but the two reportedly parted ways when the man found out he was not the father of the baby.
Simon said they are trying to find the woman’s relatives as her parents have also reportedly passed away.
“Naningkamot pud kita nga ma-contact ang iyang mga relative niini kay gi-deny man pud siya sa iyahang previous live-in partner kay nagbuwag na sila ug hinungdan sa ilang pagbuwag ang kaning pagmabdos niya sa lahi nga amahan,” Simon said.
