Security measures are in place for possible protest actions on Labor Day in Davao City on Friday, May 1, 2026.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director, Col. Peter Madria, said security plans have already been mapped out, including the deployment of police personnel in areas where protest actions are expected to take place such as Freedom park on Roxas Avenue.

The Kilusang Mayo Uno-Southern Mindanao said the group has already met with leaders of other organizations in the city, labor unions, and labor rights advocates in preparation for the activity.

The protest will focus mainly on calls for a wage increase in line with the proposed P1,200 living wage, an explanation on the root cause of rising fuel prices due to deregulation and alleged government neglect, and the scrapping of value-added tax and excise tax.

DCPO has called on progressive groups to keep the activity peaceful and to comply with the law as well as city ordinances.

Authorities also warned that they will not hesitate to penalize anyone who violates the rules.
