A barangay worker died while several others were injured after the elf truck they were riding home from a seminar figured in an accident in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

Based on investigation, the truck was carrying 10 employees of Barangay 7, who had just attended a three-day water safety seminar.

They were reportedly heading home when the trucks’ brakes allegedly malfunctioned, causing it to veer into the opposite lane and crashed into a motorcycle parked by the road.

“Ang brake sa maong sakyanan nag-malfunction ang nahitabo makapaingon sila sa opposite lane ug didto nibangga sila sa usa ka motorsiklo nga naka-park along the way ug sa usa ka bamboo fruit stand,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

Video footage showed a man pinned under a small shanty while several others sustained injuries.

They were rushed to the hospital, but one of them was declared on arrival due to severe injuries. The injured individuals are already in stable condition, as of this writing.

Authorities reminded motorists to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before traveling to avoid similar incidents.

“Daghan natala nga mga aksidente involving mga truck nga ang mga pasahero nga anaa sa likod nanglagpot ug nakabsan gyud sa kinabuhi,” Navarro said.
