A security guard is facing charges after he shot a promodiser of the fish section of a mall in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Investigation by the Iloilo City Police Station found that the shooting stemmed from the accusations the victim allegedly made against the security guard.
This reportedly led to a confrontation and ended with the guard shooting the promodiser.
Capt. Joebert Amado, Officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Station 5, said the guard had said he got carried away at that time.
Amado said it is possible that the guard thought he was the topic of conversation and took offense.
Then bumalik sa trabaho. Sabay kuha ng service firearm,” Amado said.
The guard surrendered, eventually, and turned over the 9mm service firearm he used in the shooting.
The promodiser was hit on the left side of the body but survived.
The guard is facing charges for frustrated murder.
The mall has not issued a statement, as of this writing.
The incident led the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 to direct a strict monitoring of security agencies, particularly their hiring protocols.
Josefino Ligan.
