A man wanted for rape for 15 years was arrested while applying for a clearance at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Iligan City.

NBI said the suspect appeared at NBI-Iligan District Office and the office found that he has derogatory record for the crime of rape with a “wanted” remark.

This was discovered during standard quality control, verification, and evaluation.

NBI said the record reflected the same details, including the name, criminal case number, offense charges, court of origin, and address appearing in the warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 80.

NBI said that when confronted, the suspect reportedly acknowledged the existence of the criminal case. However, the suspect reportedly believed the matter had already been settled.

Authorities served the warrant against him.

The suspect is placed under the custody of NBI-ILDO pending commitment proceedings and other orders from the court.

“This successful operation underscores the vital role and effectiveness of the NBI Clearance System as a significant law enforcement mechanism in the administration of justice and the maintenance of public safety,” NBI said.
