The police in Minglanilla town in Cebu are on the hunt for the person who left a bag at a neighborhood, which alarmed residents.

This is because the bag contained what, at first glance, appeared to be a grenade and bullets.

The bag was left outside a house in Barangay Tungkop.

The Minglanilla Police sought help immediately from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal group and it was found out that the supposed grenade was actually a lighter.

But the six bullets in the bag were confirmed to be those for a 9mm firearm.

Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, the chief of the Minglanilla Police, said they will check closed circuit television (CCTV) footages from the area to identify the person or persons responsible.

She also advised the public not to buy or use things that resemble dangerous objects such as the grenade so as not to cause unnecessary alarm or disturbance.

“It might be okay to use plain looking lighter than purchasing, buying or selling items such as lighter that resemble something illegal ba. Naa puy mga bullets nga nakita on the scene and currently ang atong mga investigators are checking CCTV around the area, kinsa maoy last touch aning mao nga bag, so that we can ascertain kinsay fi-lan nato og kaso for illegal possession of ammunition,” Macatangay said.
