Around 30 individuals allegedly under the influence of alcohol figured in a brawl inside a beach resort in Barangay Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City.
Police said the commotion started when a man allegedly splashed water on a child, which prompted the father to react.
The confrontation escalated into a brawl, with punches thrown and several people falling to the ground.
The incident subsided after police officers arrived.
“Base sa imbestigasyon naa’y usa ka bata nga usa ka beachgoer gisabligan sa usa ka hamtong og edad og tubig ug ni-react ang ginikanan niini especially ang amahan hantod ni-escalate na ug naa na mga verbal altercation nga nahitabo,” Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Spokesperson, Capt. Emilita Simon, said.
COCPO said most of the individuals involved are residents of Talakag, Bukidnon, who were visiting the resort for a celebration, while the other group was holding a baptismal celebration at that time.
No one was seriously hurt and no arrests were made after both parties reportedly reached an agreement. The resort management also reported no property damage.
“Gi-direktahan sab to mga person involved nga to proceed to Police Station 4 para mag-file og kaso but wala’y nagpakita o nagpatim-aw niadto ug ato pud owner sa atong resort wala na pud sila nagresort to legal action tungod kay ingon sila wala man pud na-damage sa ilang palibot,” Simon added.
Authorities reminded resort owners to strengthen security measures, regulate the sale of alcoholic beverages, and maintain guest records to help prevent similar incidents.
“Dapat mag-maintain sila og names o contact person sa every guest o contact information (sa) grupo nga maudto sa ilang resort at the same time muhatag sila og stricter implementation sa ilang resort in aligned sa atong peace and order concern,” Simon said.
