A 15-year-old student has been placed under police custody after allegedly posting a video on social media threatening students of Rosales National High School in Pangasinan.

The video, which circulated online on July 18, 2026 warned students not to attend classes and claimed that the one speaking in the video belongs to an armed group.

"Ako ay isang armado na kabilang sa grupo nila. Binabalaan ko lahat ng mga estudyante sa Rosales National High School na kung ayaw ninyong madamay, huwag kayong pumasok," the person in the video said.

Police later identified the voice in the video as that of a student from the same school.

Pangasinan police tracked down the 15-year-old student in Rosales on Sunday through cyber investigation, intelligence monitoring, and follow-up operations.

Police Capt. Aileen Catugas, spokesperson of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, said they verified the video's origin immediately after it surfaced online.

"Ito ay nakita ng ating kapulisan at agad nila itong vinerify na kung ito man ay post ng isang residente ng Rosales, Pangasinan," she said.

Authorities said the teenager's parents witnessed the police operation. GMA Regional TV is seeking their comment.

Police recovered a pellet gun and a baseball bat that were allegedly used in the video.

According to Catugas, the teenager told investigators that he had no intention of carrying out the threat and claimed it was only meant as a joke inspired by content on social media.

"Ito ay wala siyang intensiyon kundi ito ay isang katuwaan lamang at nakikiuso lamang sila sa mga nakikita nila o napapanood sa social media," she added.

The teenager will undergo intervention by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Police said he could face appropriate charges if authorities determine that he had sufficient discernment to understand that his actions were wrong.

Catugas said such threats can cause fear and disrupt school operations, urging parents to closely guide their children.

"Maaari po itong magdulot ng takot at pagkaantala ng operasyon sa school kaya kami ay nagpaalala sa mga magulang na huwag sana nating pabayaan ang ating mga anak... turuan nang maayos ang ating mga anak," she said.

Before the incident, police had conducted an active shooter drill at Rosales National High School to prepare students for possible shooting incidents.

GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon is seeking a statement from the school's administration. In a social media post, the school said classes have continued normally since Monday, July 20, with police maintaining a strong security presence on campus.
