The Davao City Police Office on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, said it has yet to receive an order from the national headquarters to confiscate the registered firearms of Senator Ronald dela Rosa after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) called on the PNP to have his guns surrendered.

Earlier, NBI labeled the former PNP chief and now senator as “armed and dangerous” and urged the PNP to revoke his firearms’ license.

Authorities said Dela Rosa owns at least 118 registered firearms, including high-powered weapons, which must be surrendered within 48 hours after receiving the notice.

The NBI warned that law enforcement officers could be placed at risk in serving the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Dela Rosa if the senator’s firearms remain registered legally.

“Naa lang ang DCPO to assist just in case ang NBI mag-coordinate sa atoa ma’am,” DCPO Spokesperson, Capt. Hazel Caballero, said.

However, DCPO said police officers are monitoring the possible whereabouts of the senator and his properties in the city.

“With the instruction from our chief PNP down to the regional director to the city director, nag-instruct ta sa atong 93 police station commanders, head of offices, ug support units sa pag-monitor sa presensya ni Senator Bato. Ang amoa is monitoring sa tanan niyang properties sa atong area of responsibility,” Caballero said.

Meanwhile, Dela Rosa’s lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, argued that Section 4 of Republic Act 10591 cannot serve as legal grounds for revocation.

Torreon explained that a firearms license may only be revoked through conviction and a court order, neither of which applies to his client.
