A fire razed portions of a warehouse for rent containing various goods, including school supplies, in Barangay Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Residents nearby expressed alarm after the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) raised the fire to second alarm.
The fire was declared under control after nearly two hours before it was put out completely around 9:39 p.m.
After the fire, three divisions of the warehouse rented by a marketing establishment were found reduced to ashes.
Large vehicles were also burned along with school supplies intended for sale this school year.
The damage was estimated at more than P23 million.
During the incident, a male worker sustained burns and was brought to a hospital for treatment.
According to the Zamboanga City Fire District, an electrical problem may have triggered the fire.
“Yung initial finding natin pero subject for further verification is electrical short circuit near the area kung saan yung main circuit breaker or switch nila ay located.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the warehouse management for a statement, as of this writing.
