Closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera captured the moment a newborn baby was left at an eatery in Tantangan, South Cotabato.

In the CCTV footage, a person wearing a hoodie can be seen entering an eatery in Barangay Maibo dawn on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

A few moments later, the person placed a paper bag on a shelf, removed the plastic covering, and left it behind.

In the morning, it was discovered that the bag contained a newborn boy.

A traffic enforcer reported the incident to the Regional Study Center for Children in the town. A staff member from the center then brought the baby to a hospital.

“As of this moment, yung bata nasa Allah Valley Hospital for further assessment kay gina-antibiotic pa ang bata,” Melanie Abueva, an officer of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), said.

Authorities have yet to identify whether the person who left the baby was male or female, who is now being pursued.

MSWDO said another baby boy was also abandoned and placed under its custody on March 10, 2026.

“Panawagan sa mga bata, siguro mga teenager ito, nag-aaral pa na takot sa responsibility nila bilang isang nanay, yung iba hindi pa ready. Panawagan ko lang na sana maging responsable sila sa kanilang bawat moves,” Abueva added.
