The city of Mandaue in Cebu wants to put more teeth in its rules on vandalism and curfew.
This was tackled during a meeting of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC).
The City Council itself has recommended to put more teeth in the ordinance - such as raising the fine - so that residents will be discouraged further from vandalizing public spaces and violating the curfew.
According to Councilor Jennifer del Mar, the Council will pass a resolution to formalize its recommendation.
She also suggested that the Council call for a public hearing to hear the sentiments from residents.
“I-tackle namo na perhaps you amend the ordinance to make it a bit strict, stricter gyud siya. I suggested for a public hearing, para at least ma-raise nato ang issue sa public and madungog pod nato ilang side,” Del Mar said.
