Commercial flight operations at the General Santos International Airport resumes on Monday, June 15, 2026, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
DOTr said the resumption of operations came after President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. ordered to expedite the repair works at the airport following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani on June 8, 2026.
Authorities said the repair works aimed to ensure the safety, convenience, and uninterrupted travel of passengers.
DOTr Secretary Banoy Lopez committed earlier that commercial operations at the airport will resume within a week after the powerful tremor.
“Nagsagawa na ang DOTr at CAAP ng kumpletong safety assessment, and we confirmed na pwede nang ituloy bukas ‘yung commercial operations sa GenSan Airport para hindi na maantala ‘yung biyahe ng ating mga pasahero,” Lopez said over the weekend.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has coordinated with airline operators, airport stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the airport.
Authorities advised passengers to coordinate with their respective airlines regarding flight schedules and travel arrangements.
