Government forces seized alleged smuggled cigarettes worth nearly P106 million in separate operations in Pagadian City and Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur.

The anti-smuggling operations were carried out by troops from the 53rd Infantry Battalion and police officers in Barangays White Beach, Pagadian City and Punta Flecha, Pitogo on Monday, June 29, 2026.

In Barangay White Beach, authorities recovered up to 611 boxes of cigarettes and other assets believed to have been used in the illegal trade, including a wing van truck, a pump boat, and other indigenous boats known locally as “bote-bote.”

On the other hand, the operating team intercepted and confiscated another 60 master cases of assorted cigarettes in Barangay Punta Flecha.

All seized items were turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

“The successful operation reflects the strong collaboration among government agencies in combating smuggling activities that undermine economic security and public welfare,” the military said.
