The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Davao (DENR-11) has announced the annual off-season closure of Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary Trails.

DENR-11 said the closure of the trekking trails at Mt. Hamiguitan Range aims to allow the UNESCO World Heritage Site to rest and regenerate.

The three-month closure will start from July 1 to September 30, 2026.
During this period, all trekking, mountaineering, and ecotourism activities along the San Isidro and Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental trails are strictly suspended.

Only research activities will be allowed, provided they are covered by a duly approved MHRWS-PAMB resolution.

DENR-11 said all accredited climb organizers, tour operators, local government units, and stakeholders have been instructed to comply with the closure and to properly inform potential climbers.

The public is advised to coordinate with the official Facebook page of Mount Hamiguitan Trekking for further inquiries.
