An active shooter simulation exercise was conducted at a school in Iligan City to strengthen emergency preparedness in the event of an armed attack inside the campus.

The Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) initiated the exercise at Dalipuga National High School after the deadly shooting at a school in Tacloban City.

The activity aimed to educate students on the proper actions to take and safety protocols to follow in the event of a similar incident.

“Kung mahimo ma-papel gyud atong mga request to visit those mga high school students nga target nato in this kind of activities. Mag-visit gyud sulod sa schools ang mga pulis para makita nila nga atong kapulisan sa Iligan nga always ready to respond to any untoward incident that may transpired sa ilang schools,” ICPO Spokesperson, Major Zandrex Panolong, said.

Aside from the active shooter scenario, the simulation exercise also included stabbing and bomb threat scenarios to prepare students, teachers, and emergency responders for various security threats.

Meanwhile, police urged parents to monitor their children closely and remain involved actively in promoting their safety and well-being.

"Pagsulod sa active shooter palihug lang ayaw bisan asa dagan, ang inyong pinaka safe na buhaton modagan mo mosulod sa classroom dayon ang classroom i-lock,” Master Sergeant Aere John Fajardo of Police Station 9 said.
