Four people were killed and five others were injured in three separate shooting incidents that took place in two days in Cotabato City.

Two men, both 40 years old, were shot dead in Barangay Rosary Heights 11 around 3 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026. They did not reach the hospital alive.

Two women riding a motorcycle were also injured after they were hit by stray bullets while passing through the area. Both are undergoing treatment.

Police said the victims were shot by the assailants using an M16 rifle and a 9mm firearm.

Investigators have identified two persons of interest.

Shortly before midday, a civil engineer was also shot dead in Barangay Rosary Heights 10 at around 11:20 a.m.

The 39-year-old victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His 16-year-old companion sustained injuries and continues to receive medical treatment, as of this writing.

According to the Cotabato City Police, the victims were on their way home when they were reportedly tailed by motorcycle-riding suspects who fired shots at them.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old tricycle driver was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after he was hit by a stray bullet in Barangay Poblacion 5 at around 10:55 a.m. on Sunday, July 12.

His seven-year-old male companion was also injured.

Based on investigation, the victims were bystanders who were caught in the crossfire while passing through the area when a suspect opened fire at the intended target—a 38-year-old police officer.

The officer, a police corporal assigned to the Cotabato City Police, was also wounded in the attack.

Authorities are eyeing personal grudges as motive behind the three separate shooting incidents.
