A 22-year-old man who allegedly killed an official of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Jolo, Sulu was arrested over the weekend.

According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the suspect identified as alias “Ning,” a resident of Parang, Sulu, was arrested by virtue of a warrant for murder issued by a Jolo court on March 22, 2026.

The court did not allow the suspect to post bail.

Police said the suspect was tagged as the number eight most wanted person of Police Regional Office-9.

Based on investigation, the suspect allegedly shot the female victim, the assistant schools division superintendent of the Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), inside the DepEd compound on Bonifacio Street, San Raymundo, Jolo on February 7, 2025.

The victim was hit in the face and body and died on the spot.

“The arrest underscores the Unit’s commitment in helping all victims and their families attain the justice they deserve; and the government’s pledge to protecting public safety and security,” CIDG said.
