Authorities in Davao City recovered a suspected vintage bomb sold to a junk shop in Calinan Poblacion.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) recovered the bomb after confirming it was sold to the junk shop.
The shop employee confirmed the shop purchased a suspected vintage bomb on July 10, 2026 from an unidentified seller.
Upon inspecting the scrap materials, authorities found a 105mm high-explosive projectile without a fuze.
“Although the ordnance showed signs of age and corrosion, it was still treated as a potential hazard and handled using established safety procedures,” the Philippine National Police said.
The item has since been turned over to the PNP Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) and Canine Unit-11 in Barangay Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City, for proper handling and disposal.
Police said as part of the operation, they conducted a safety awareness briefing among the workers in the junk shop so they would be aware of the dangers of unexploded ordnance.
They were urged to report suspected explosive materials immediately to authorities.
