A fourth suspect in the killing of American marine biologist Kent Carpenter surrendered on Friday, July 17, 2026, just hours before charges were filed against him and three other suspects.
Two of the other suspects were arrested earlier while one other also surrendered.
They are facing a complaint for robbery with homicide before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Negros Oriental.
The police said the fourth suspect served as a lookout when the others entered Carpenter’s residence in Barangay Ajong, Sibulan town late evening on July 12, 2026.
The scientist and his live-in partner were watching TV when the suspects barged into the house. One of the suspects shot Carpenter in the head.
Police said earlier the incident was a “robbery gone wrong.” Read story: https://www.gmanetwork.com/regionaltv/news/114833/pnp-case-of-marine-biologist-killing-a-robbery-gone-wrong/story/
The suspects allegedly took away money and jewelry from the house.
Also on Friday, July 17, 2026, police filed charges against the four suspects.
One of the suspects will also face rape charges for allegedly assaulting Carpenter’s live-in partner sexually.
It was the live-in partner who identified the suspects positively.
Another suspect remains at large, as of this writing, the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office said.
