The Municipality of Consolacion in Cebu has suspended face-to-face classes starting on Monday, August 3, 2026, following a security threat.
“In response to circulating online safety threats directed at local schools, the Municipal Government of Consolacion, Cebu, has suspended in-person classes for affected schools starting August 3, 2026, shifting them to modular/distance learning,” the town said in a statement.
The schools affected are the following:
- Consolacion NHS
- San Narciso School
- Tayud NHS (including Tayud ES)
- Tolotolo NHS (including Tolotolo ES)
- Tugbongan NHS (including Tugbongan ES)
The classes were suspended to allow authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly. Face-to-face classes will remain suspended until further notice, the town said.
The schools have been instructed to transition immediately to modular learning or alternative distance learning "to ensure academic continuity without compromising student safety."
"All educational institutions across Consolacion are mandated to strictly enforce heightened security measures, including rigorous access control for all individuals entering and leaving school premises," the town said.
The town said the Consolacion Municipal Police Station "will conduct targeted inspections and routine visits" in schools, and SWAT personnel and other law enforcement personnel will be deployed to secure campuses.
“Our Municipal Police Station have been deployed for heightened security while cybercrime authorities conduct an active investigation,” the town said.
