A couple died while two others were injured when four motorcycles figured in an accident in Davao City.

The accident happened at the Davao-Bukidnon road in Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City close to 3 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026.

A video that has since gone viral showed the motorcycles traveling at high speed. Suddenly, motorycles are seen tumbling down the road. 

Based on investigation by the Davao City Police, three of three motorcycles were heading north. A motorcycle driven by a 19-year-old man reportedly hit the back of the motorcycle ridden by the couple before it hit another motorcycle.

The impact threw the motorists off their vehicles onto the road. 

A wheel of the motorcycle driven by the 19-year-old man also reportedly got dislodged and hit a motorcycle on the other lane.

The live-in couple died on the spot while the motorist on the other lane sustained injuries.

The 19-year-old driver was brought to the hospital because of the injuries he sustained.

One other driver reportedly fled.

“Naa’y usa ka motorcycle, katong V4, kato siya ang gina-trace nato karon kung asa na ni siya ug kinsa ni siya kay mao ni siya ang nakasibat sa scene,” said Maj. Jemuel Mamolang, commander of the Baliok Police Station.

Mamolang said they continue to investigate the incident, as of this writing, especially because of information that the motorcycles were participating allegedly in a drag race.

“Nag-trending man gud ni siya sa social media unya gibutangan siya og title nga alleged drag race, but sa amoa ma’am, gi-consider as reckless driving resulting to that incident,” he said.

“Ongoing pa ang amoang backtracking karon maam sa mga CCTV ug nangita pud mi’g witnesses nga makahatag og testimony nga drag race gyud ang nahitabo,” he added.
