Classes at the Bais City campus of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) were suspended on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, due to a security threat.

In a Facebook post, the Bais City Police said classes were suspended “to prevent unnecessary exposure of students and personnel while security and safety measures were being implemented.”

The city police continue to assess the situation, as of this writing.

It has fielded personnel to the campus.

The police said threat was posted on social media using a dummy account.

“As a precautionary measure, classes at the NORSU-Bais Campus were suspended to prevent unnecessary exposure of students and personnel while security and safety measures were being implemented,” the police said.

“The Bais City Police Station has likewise intensified its coordination with school authorities and continues to closely monitor the situation. Appropriate police visibility and security measures are being undertaken in the vicinity of the campus, while authorities remain vigilant in assessing any information that may pose a threat to the safety of the academic community,” the police added.

In July 2026, Silliman University, a school based in Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental, also received a security threat, which promoted the police and campus security to conduct a security sweep of the whole campus.

The threat was reportedly sent to a university email, which, later, circulated on social media groups.
