A man was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen after stepping out of his vehicle in Davao City on Wednesday morning, August 19, 2026.

Residents and motorists were alarmed after a series of gunshots were heard along the national highway in Kanto Puan around 9 a.m.

The man was shot in front of a steel fabrication shop.

The victim was rushed to a hospital on board his vehicle but was declared dead on arrival.

According to a witness, the victim was driving his pickup truck with other individuals and they stopped in front of their shop where the victim got out of the vehicle.

As he walked toward the back of the vehicle, the suspects shot him several times before fleeing toward the northern part of the city.

Investigators recovered several bullet casings from the road.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the assailants and determine the motive.
