The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended preventively for 90 days the license of a rider who kicked a traffic cone in Arevalo, Iloilo City.

LTO-6 directed the rider, 23, and his two companions, 25 and 19 years old, to appear before the office on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The kicking incident, which was captured on video, happened in Barangay Dulonan in Arevalo District dawn on Sunday, August 23, during a fun run.

The three were not drunk during the incident and said they did not mean to hit the traffic cone.

"Tumatawa kasi kami. Nang nahulog 'yung paa namin, nasipa, natamaan. Kung tripping sana, doon pa lang sa unahan, marami nang cone doon," the rider said.

But the LTO said it will not turn a blind eye on the incident.

"Ang sabi ko sa kanila, lahat ng nangyayari sa kalsada, basta may maliwanag na ebidensya na ikaw na driver ay nag-commit ng any violation under R.A. 4136, hindi iyan palalampasin ng LTO," said LTO-6 Asst. Regional Director Jeck Conlu.

However, the driver is facing charges for reckless driving and having excess passengers.

The motorcycle the three used was also turned over to LTO-6. The motorcycle has an updated registration documents.

Meanwhile, LTO-6 will issue a show cause order against three riders and their companions who traveled on board a motorcyle without helmets. A video that captured the incident also showed a person riding in pilion but facing backwards.

"Nakita natin sa video na parang nag-enjoy sila sa kanilang ginagawa. Pero sa LTO, hindi kami nag-e-enjoy habang pinapanood sila," Conlu said.
