DLSAU teen dance group wins cash prize from PLDT myBro

Teen dance group Tripster won the P30,000.00 grand prize in PLDT myBro’s Da 499 Pauso Ko dance contest. The group from De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU) bested hundreds of other dance teams in the nationwide online dance search featuring PLDT myBro brand ambassadors and local YouTube sensation Chicser.

PLDT myBro 499 dance contest winners Tripster (back row) meet local YouTube sensation Chicser (front row) during the awarding.
“The 499 dance contest was a big hit and we are very happy over the turnout of entries from all over the country,” Ava Espanola, PLDT HOME fixed wireless broadband assistant vice president, said. “In the end, though, one group really stood out selected by no less than Chicser themselves.” Chicser is an all-male teenage dance group which gained a strong online following after uploading some of their performances on popular video sharing site YouTube.

During the awarding, Chicser made a surprise appearance for the winning dance group. “Sobrang saya po namin at sobrang thankful. Speechless talaga. (We are very happy and thankful. We’re really speechless),” Tripster member Hanz Arias shared of the experience. “Nakita po namin sa kanila kung paano sila nagpapasaya ng mga tao. Sobrang inspired po kami sa ginagawa nila kaya po kami sumali (We saw how they were able to bring joy to other people. We were so inspired by them that’s why we joined.),” Tripster member Michael de la Cruz added.

According to Chicser member Oliver Posadas, Tripster won because of their “energy.” “Nakita namin sa kanila yung effort at gustong-gusto nila yung ginagawa nila. Deserving sila manalo. (We saw in them the effort and how much they enjoyed what they did. They  deserved to win),” he said.

Accessible and affordable Internet

“Parents today are faced with the challenge of working on a limited budget to provide their children’s needs. In this digital age, Internet access is one of those needs especially for students,” Espanola explained. “With PLDT myBro, we bring high-speed, wireless Internet connectivity to more Filipino households. As the success stories of Chicser and Tripster clearly show, access to information online can be a competitive edge in achieving one’s dreams,” she added.

Parents who wish to avail of a PLDT myBro subscription for their children can take advantage of a P499 initial cash-out deal which features unlimited Internet usage at speeds of up to 1 mbps. The monthly service fee for succeeding months is P999.
