'Bawal Ang Pasaway Kay Mareng Winnie' receives recognition from 11th Hildegarde Awards


Kapuso commentary TV show “Bawal Ang Pasaway Kay Mareng Winnie” bagged the People's Choice Award for Broadcast Journalism in this year's Hildegarde Awards, an annual event organized by the students of the Mass Communication Department of St. Scholastica's College to celebrate women's achievements in media.

The weekly news commentary and analysis program, hosted by Filipina economist and professor Solita “Winnie” Monsod, was voted by the Scholastican community for its continuous success in representing “the journalist’s stamp of fairness and a news analyst’s incisive views.”

“It is a public affairs show that has been successful even in the viewer-rich primetime slot which is popular for telenovelas,” the organizers added.

Among the most recent one-on-one interviews conducted on “Bawal Ang Pasaway” are with controversial personalities such as Mocha Uson, retired SPO3 Arturo Lascañas, Sen. Antonion Trillanes IV, and Sen. Leila de Lima.

“Bawal ang Pasaway kay Mareng Winnie” airs every Monday, 10:15 p.m., on GMA News TV. 

 

The 11th Hildegarde Awards will also honor women with outstanding achievement in Advertising, Print Journalism, and Development Communication.

Among its other awardess are Merlee Jayme, Chairmom and Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Jayme; DZUP-Usapang P, a program that tackles important women issues for the field of Broadcast Journalism; and Becky Demetillo-Abraham and Karina Constantino-David of Inang Laya, a singing duo whose music relieves the historic memories of People Power Revolution.
