Gary V, Mark Caguioa among celebs proud of Gilas Pilipinas effort in defeat
The Gilas Pilipinas set the Filipino Twitterverse on fire after its thrilling match against Croatia on Saturday in the FIBA World Cup.
The Philippines lost in overtime, 81-78, but fans and supporters remained in high spirits after witnessing the fighting heart of the national team. Gilas climbed back from a 23-9 deficit in the first quarter, before grabbing the lead in the fourth quarter and later forcing overtime.
Filipino celebrities joined the legions of fans expressing their pride for the team, which was earlier tagged as one of the "weakest" squads in the tournament by ESPN.
