Kris Aquino calls out fake news saying she'll run to beat Mocha
Kris Aquino on Friday called out a fake news item spreading on social media alleging that she would run for the Senate to "beat" Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, saying "politics isn't in my brains right now."
Sharing a screencap of the fake news post, Kris noted that she has not had any recent interview or interactions with television host and manager Boy Abunda, as the post alleged.
"I have NEVER been interviewed by Boy Abunda in recent memory, at least not in the past quarter, not in his show & not for print or any other medium. Our last communication was 2 months ago when he was turning over a few more endorsement details to my current management team," Kris said.
She also hit out at the wrong grammar of the fake news item.
"Kung sino man po ang nagsulat nito- if you will choose to invent quotes from me- GALINGAN NYO NAMAN. I am a stickler for correct grammar and subject-verb agreement: it isn’t IN CASE SHE PURSUE HER CANDIDACY, I need to correct you: it is IN CASE SHE PURSUES HER CANDIDACY," she wrote.
"I know i am weird, hindi ako sa subject matter nairita, nabwisit ako na wrong grammatical quote ang na attribute sa ‘kin."
Kris did express gratitude about being compared to Mocha, admitting that she had less experience in the online realm compared to the government official.
"Because in the online world, Ms. Uson is a 'unicorn'... And I am a newbie. Yet you have elevated me by this comparison to her status.#Bongga" she wrote.
Mocha's name had been floated as a senatorial candidate by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez in 2019. Mocha said she didn't have any political plans, but would run if President Rodrigo Duterte asked her to do so. —JST, GMA News
