Deadpool to join ‘Legion’ in small screen as animated series

While the Deadpool sequel is still a long way off and the only confirmed casting besides Ryan Reynolds’ return as Deadpool is Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable, an animated series for the Merc with the Mouth has been given the greenlight.

FXX will be working on the said project, alongside Donald Glover and his brother Stephen. While no other details have been revealed, Marvel Television president Jeph Loeb has confirmed his involvement and enthusiasm for the project.

"How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX — the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth," Loeb said in a statement. "We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with ‘Legion’ continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."

New characters in the sequel

Meanwhile, fans of the X-Men are going to take notice if the speculations about the "Deadpool 2" turns out to be true.

A report by comic book.com suggests that a trio of familiar X-Force characters could be making it to the sequel’s post-credits scene — and they're fan favorite mutants who have appeared in both X-Men comics and other forms of media, just waiting to get their live-action debut.

According to the report, Sunspot, Feral, and Shatterstar are rumored to be added to the post-credits tag, giving a stinger for 20th Century Fox’s future plan to create an “X-Force” spin-off film following the Deadpool sequel.

If the names sound familiar, that’s because these three have been affiliated with X-Force since the '90s, though the team has undergone roster changes through the years.

The genetically engineered mutant Shatterstar in particular was born from that era and first appeared in New Mutants #1 before joining X-Force full time. Feral also debuted in the same issue  and has been both a superhero and supervillain, having ties with the subterranean group of mutants known as the Morlocks before joining X-Force.

Finally Sunspot — who precedes both characters and made his debut in the 80’s, is easily more recognizable these days thanks to his ties with both the X-Men and Avengers — but officially got his start with the New Mutants and later with X-Force.

The Deadpool movie sequel is scheduled for a June 2018 release. — AT, GMA News
