Winwyn Marquez shines during her crowning moment as Reina Hispanoamericana

Winwyn Marquez shone during her crowning moment as Reina Hispanoamericana on Sunday in Bolivia.

Marquez left her Filipino fans and the whole country proud even during the early stages of the pageant, during which she won several awards and earned features on Bolivian newspapers.

The 25-year-old beauty queen stunned in a shimmering emerald green gown by Ezra Santos during the evening gown competition.

During the Q&A portion, Winwyn answered with stance and empathy. She was asked, "How would you promote Hispanic Americana culture with language barriers?"

Here's her well-thought-out answer:

"Language can be learned, but the will and determination to contribute something to the organization cannot. It has to come from the heart and it has to be natural.

I believe that kindness is a universal language. If you treat people with tolerance, patience, and love, you will understand each other.

Hispanic culture is not about language only. It's about love for God, love for country, love for history and culture and love for family.

As a Filipina with a unique heritage, I have instilled that.

I am ready to promote the Hispanic culture, not just in Asia, but in the whole world. It is time to celebrate the Hispanic culture, It is meant to be celebrated."

Wyn joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2015 where she finished in the Top 15. She returned to the pageant circuit in 2017 via Miss World Philippines and won the first Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas crown.

The Kapuso actress is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management at San Bed College in Alabang.

She also earned her teaching certificate at Southville International School and Colleges in line with her advocacy that mainly focuses on children's education.

She is the daughter of actor-politicians Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno.

It has been a successful week for the country's pageant industry. Prior to Wyn's win, Karen Ibasco was crowned as Miss Earth 2017 on Saturday and pilot beauty queen Nelda Ibe placed first runner up in the Miss Globe pageant in Albania on Friday. — LA, GMA News
