Celine Dion arrives in PHL for two-night concert

Grammy award-winning singer Celine Dion arrived in Manila early Thursday morning for her two-night concert at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"We are all very excited to be here, it's our first time, I don't need to do research, I need to be on the ground & hear it, I wanna feel it," said the 50-year-old international singer, who arrived via private plane from Thailand past 1 a.m.

Dion has sold almost 250 million albums during her over 30-year career. She has earned five Grammy Awards, two Academy Awards and seven American Music Awards. In 2004, She received the Diamond award at the World Music Awards recognizing her status as the best-selling female artist of all time.

She will hold her concert on July 19 and 20. It will be her first time to hold a concert in the Philippines.

Dion was supposed to hold a concert in the Philippines in 2014 but had to cancel at the last minute to care for her then ailing husband-manager, Rene Angelil, who eventually succumbed to cancer. Two days later, one of her brothers also died from cancer. —Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA News
