Megaworld takes on P45-B Bonifacio City development

Property developer Megaworld Corp. on Thursday said it plans to invest P45 billion developing a 15-hectare integrated township, called Uptown Bonifacio in Taguig City’s Bonifacio Global City, over the next 20 years.   The mixed-use district will cover the northern portion of Fort Bonifacio, extending to Kalayaan Avenue, close to the British, Japanese and American international schools, the company said in a statement. “Uptown Bonifacio, designed to be the country’s newest business district, will take Megaworld’s live-work-play lifestyle to new heights,” said senior vice president for marketing Noli Hernandez.   Uptown Bonifacio will feature eight towers with potential developments including a 500,000 sqm residential space, 400,000 sqm office space and 90,000 sqm retail space.   Megaworld estimated its 45-story One Uptown Residence, the community’s first residential development, will require P7.5 billion to build.   Uptown Bonifacio will employ the building for ecologically responsive design excellence or BERDE rating system, with double-glazed glass walls for office buildings, sky gardens and a man-made lagoon.   “We will continue our best efforts to ramp up the construction of our next generation ‘green’ office developments in Uptown Bonifacio that will help generate at least 80,000 new jobs in the area.” said Jericho Go, first vice president for business development & leasing. — CMA/VS, GMA News
