Emperador completes acquisition of Whyte & Mackay


Emperador Inc. completed its acquisition of UK-based Scotch whiskey maker Whyte & Mackay Group Limited and its subsidiaries for P31 billion, the company said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday.
 
The company through is wholly owned subsidiary, Emperador UK Limited, completed the acquisition of 100 percent stake in Whyte & Mackay Group Limited and subsidiaries on Oct. 31, 2014.
 
Emperador in May signed the agreement with United Spirits (Great Britain) Ltd.

The acquisition will allow Emperador to fast track growth and dominate the Philippine market and become a global player, Emperador Distillers president Winston Co said in an interview with reporters in June.
 
Emperador said that Whyte & Mackay is the fifth largest maker of Scotch and owns some of the most iconic brands in the industry, including British luxury brand Dalmore Single Highland Malt, Jura Premium Single Malt, and Whyte & Mackay Blended Scotch whiskies.
 
Whyte & Mackay holds one of the world's largest aged whisky inventories, with production capacity of 50 million liters of alcohol every year, with five distilleries and one bottling plant in Scotland.
 
Emperador is an integrated manufacturer, distributor and bottler of brandy and other alcoholic beverages, including the brands Emperador, Generoso, The BaR, Emperador Deluxe, and Emperador Light. —NB, GMA News
