Manila RunWay to open two months ahead of schedule – DPWH

The pedestrian bridge, connecting the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) to the Newport City in Pasay City, is set to open two months ahead of schedule, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said Tuesday.

In an emailed statement, Villar said the Manila Runway project "is on track and due to open in April."

In December, Villar said the project will be completed in June 2017 as an enclosed, air-conditioned bridge with PWD-friendly facilities such as moving walkways and elevators.

“Once completed, RunWay Manila will allow the average person to walk the distance between the airport and Newport City in approximately three minutes,” Villar said.

“Runway Manila is designed to accommodate up to 2,000 persons at any time, or up to 216,000 individuals per day. The bridge is free to use for the benefit of the public,” he added.

Developed in cooperation with the Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., RunWay Manila is a 220-meter elevated bridge that stands 65 meters over Andrews Avenue.
