SMDC banks on BPO sector to boost revenue

SM Development Corp. (SMDC) is banking on the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector for a revenue boost in the next two years.

In a briefing in Makati City, SMDC assistant vice president Therese Sonsing-Fernando said it is applying the strategy particularly in the South Residences development in Las Piñas City.

"There's a lot of investing in anticipation of a BPO [office]," she said, citing an office space development catering to the outsourcing industry across its residential project.

The BPO is set to be completed by December this year," she said.

Fernando noted that SMDC is now able to sell 50 residential units a month, the rate at which she expects the project to be sold out by next year, considering that South Residences is already 60 percent sold with a turnover scheduled from the first half of 2018.

The residential development has four 15-story towers with 2,010 units each. — VDS, GMA News
