PLDT unit targets 30M Filipinos using digital financial services by 2020

PLDT's digital innovations arm Voyager Innovations Inc. is aiming to increase the coverage of its digital financial services in the country to 30 million customers in the next two years.

"We are targeting 30 million Filipinos to be involved in digital financial services by 2020," Voyager president and CEO Orlando Vea told reporters.

According to Vea, this is in line with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' (BSP) goal to digitize 20 percent of all Philippine transactions by the year 2020.

According to the latest data available from Voyager, a total of 20 million Filipinos have already availed of the company's services, including lending platform KasamaKa and digital payment arm PayMaya.

"As of now, already 20 million people, Filipinos, are using Voyager across the different platforms," Vea said.

"Voyager is well ahead in terms of ecosystem building to promote digital inclusion. We're bringing in enterprises, consumers, enablers, and other communities together into the digital economy," he added.

Voyager currently counts as partners over 300 enterprises and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and over 15,000 micro retailers.

PayMaya has also partnered with brands such as Lazada, Zalora, Booking.com, The SM Store, Robinsons Retail Holdings, Mercury Drug Store, and McDonald's. — BM, GMA News
