AF Payments, Coins.ph to enable beep card loading via Android smartphone

AF Payments Inc., the operator of beep card, has partnered with Coins.ph to enable loading contactless cards using smartphones.

In a briefing in Makati City on Monday, the companies launched the partnership that that would enable users to load their beep cards using the Coins.ph app for a minimum of P10.

“Coins.ph provides beep cardholders the ability to load their cards anytime, anywhere just by tapping their card on their smartphone,” AF Payments Inc. president and CEO Peter Maher said.

“This added convenience means no more falling in line to add load during the rush hour,” he said, noting that the service is currently available only on Android smartphones.

Since AF Payments introduced beep in September 2015, it has issued four million cards and recorded 510 million transactions. That same month, Maher noted, commuters have loaded their cards around 120 million times.

“Each day, nearly two million Filipinos are forced to wait in long lines to top up their beep cards with cash. With this collaboration, beep cardholders can seamlessly use Coins.ph to load their cards using their phones and make payments anywhere beep is accepted,” Coins.ph CEO Ron Hose said.

Authorized by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Coins.ph is an electronic money issuer and transfer company which can be loaded in over 33,000 locations nationwide—including convenience stores and payment centers. —VDS, GMA News
