House plenary OKs P3.757-Tr budget on second reading

The House of Representatives on Wednesday night passed on second reading the P3.757-trillion national budget for 2019.

The approval came after two weeks of deliberations in the House plenary and the realignment by the chamber of P51.7 billion to the budgets of the Department of Education, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Health and disaster management funds.

DepEd was given the biggest allocation, followed by the DPWH, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of National Defense and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Also in the top ten in terms of allocations are the Department of Health, Department of Transportation, Department of Agriculture, the judiciary and the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao. —NB, GMA News
